Debate #13: Can you be fat AND fit?

Number 13 may be unlucky for some, but for us it means it's time to tackle that dreaded 3 letter word - FAT.

Is it possible to be fat but still be fit? Are the two mutually exclusive?

Rugby players are frequently highlighted as being ‘obese’ on the BMI scale yet they’re fitter than many. Sumo wrestlers purposely pile on the bulk for competing but are they really healthy?

Once you’ve been training for a while is it inevitable that you’ll want to lose more of your fat because it will make you ‘fitter’?

Fat is considered a dirty word by some, but some cultures revere it, so what's the deal? Can fat be good when it comes to a healthy and active lifestyle?

Debate #12: Should the NHS pay for obesity?

We're gonna hit a raw nerve with this one - very inkeeping with spirit of the debates we thought.

We want to discuss personal responsibility around health issues. Everyone knows about the health issues aurrounding smoking and alcohol, and the dozens of government led initiatives to try and improve our nutritional and fitness wellbeings mean that we're all fully aware of how we should be looking after ourselves.

So with that in mind, do you think the NHS/health insurance should pay for treatment related to obesity and other health-related problems which stem from being overweight?

Is it a personal responsibility to maintain your own health or do some people need the authoritative intervention of something like the NHS because they just simply can't do it by themselves?

Please get really stuck into this debate because we're really excited about the responses for this one.

Debate #11: Training with your partner is a recipe for disaster

Just in the nick of time for Valentine's Day we ask - is training with your partner a recipe for disaster?

Does a shared love of the same activity make for a stronger relationship, or is it bound to end in tears or an argument?

Is your activity your ‘me’ time that you don’t want to share, or would you love your better half to join you? If your better half doesn’t train with you, how do you keep them involved in that part of your life?

This will prove an interesting one as we're likely to get some vastly different responses to this so wade in with your two-penneth and let us know your thoughts.

Debate #10: Sports Nutrition products are a waste of money

This time around we're calling back the theme from our 3rd debate about juice cleanses and switching it up to the science-led world of sports nutrition products.

What’s your thoughts: love them, or hate them? Do you think the science and development behind them is valid, or do you think it’s all unnecessary hype?

Do you think a 50p Asda choco-late milkshake is a better recover drink than a £3 specially formulated one?

How about the advertising of them? Do you think people get sucked in to the flashy ads or do people see through the advertising?

Join us as we debate the world of protein bars, recovery drinks, energy gels and more.

Debate #9 - Who Cares What You Write About Running?

Welcome to the first Run With An Idea of 2014! Since the project started last year, we've already had a couple of debates that covered why we run but in this week's debate I wanted to explore why we write about running. What do you think? Who do you write for? Which running blogs do you read? What can't you stand in a running blog?
